It was a week before the winter
And the gang was all in town
You forgot but I remember
Everything about it now
Said you fell in love in school
With a girl straight from a dream
So you sat there on the playground
Took too much amphetamine
when you got down
I was speeding like a fool
Thinking I could save you
Like I’m the exception to the rule
I stood at the door of your place
Wondering how to get out of this headspace
I ranted to a stranger
At some upscale downtown bar
They didn’t have much to say
But they looked like movie star
But they didn’t know you
Hell I don’t know if I do
After six years of being
Stupid in love with you
and when you got down
I was speeding like a fool
Thinking I could save you
Like I’m the exception to the rule
I stood at the door of your place
Wondering how to get out of this headspace
So I drove until my body gave out
I was screaming out the window till no sound
was coming out
You and I we burned it to the ground

I think it's difficult to write songs about something other than romantic love, and still be able to communicate the intensity with which those feelings can hit a person. Some of the entries on this album are fantastic examples of this niche. dani_bloop
